Calamine

Calamine is a queer, feminist and anti-capitalist rapper based in Hochelaga, Montreal. She has been working since 2018 with producer Kèthe Magané to deconstruct gender binarity and the cult of the automobile, and to debunk patriarchy, Capital with a capital C and heteronormativity through lyrics that are equally intimate and political.

In November 2020, the rapper released a first album, Boulette Proof. Soon after, she won the second place at the 2021 Francouvertes contest, was named 2021 Révélation Radio-Canada and was awarded the Félix-Leclerc prize at the 2021 Francos de Montréal. As soon as she arrived on the Montreal scene, Calamine caught the attention of France and was invited to present her project at the MaMA Festival in Paris in October 2021, at the Trans Musicales Festival in Rennes in December 2021 and at the Francofolies de La Rochelle in 2022.
